The Physiotherapy Centre is located on the same premises as Advantage Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation, but cares exclusively for those persons eligible for publically-funded (OHIP) physiotherapy. Consequently, some of the guidelines governing the operation of the Physiotherapy Centre are stipulated by the Ministry of Health, and so differ from those of our sister clinic.
The following groups are eligible for publically-funded physiotherapy:
A doctor’s referral is required for all persons seeking publically-funded physiotherapy.
Once you have provided us with a doctor’s referral, you will be placed on our waiting list. We will then call you as soon as an assessment appointment becomes available.
As of August 1st, 2013, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has instituted new guidelines which dictate that physiotherapy treatments be 'goal-oriented, outcome-measured and time-limited', in effect changing the definition of publically funded physiotherapy in our province. These changes mean that we will no longer be allowed to provide long-term physiotherapy to maintain current function. As a result, our physiotherapy care plans now emphasize education, including detailed home exercise programs, strategies for fall-prevention and avoiding injury, and referrals to programs in the community to teach clients to cope on their own.
There are no fees payable by anyone eligible for publically-funded physiotherapy.
